Activities
There are a host of exciting activities to participate in while visiting The Snowy Mountains.
From adrenaline fueled pursuits such as skiing, snowboarding and mountain biking to relaxing times spent fly fishing, doing yoga or attending a tasting at the local brewery or schnapps distillery.
Fly Fishing in The Snowies
Fishing
Mowamba River Lodge is situated in the heart of the Snowy Mountains trout fishing waters with rivers such as the Thredbo, Snowy and Mowamba close at hand as well as Lake Jindabyne itself. The lodge is built as a fishing lodge and boasts a fly casting pond and two well stocked (trout) dams as well as a kilometer of frontage to the Mowamba/Moonbah and a short 350 metre walk down the Mowamba will take you to The Snowy River. We can arrange Guiding and/or tuition with the best local guides and can assist with the hire of equipment. The lodge has a drying room for waders, boots etc.
Skiing and Snowboarding
Snow Sports
The lodge is a 30 - 40 minutes drive from Australia's best snow resorts Thredbo, Perisher and Charlottes Pass. The Lodge can assist with hire of snow sports gear and has a drying room on the lower level for all equipment. The lodge offers a transport service to and from the resorts for a small fee. In case of bad conditions at the resorts we have recently installed a large covered Skate Ramp (close to but out of sight and sound from the lodge) for lodge guests to use. We also have a Gym at the lodge.

Hiking
There are numerous trails around Lake Jindabyne (a 10 minute drive) and the resorts, particularly Thredbo (30 to 40 minutes away) with access to it's lifts year round and walks to Mount Kosciuszko as well as other destinations both guided and unguided. The lodge property is 120 acres, most of which is untouched bushland containing lots of interesting animals (Birds, Deer, Kangaroos, Wallabies, Wombats and Echidna) as well as 1 km of frontage to the tranquil Mowamba River and it's just a short 350 metre walk down the Mowamba to the Snowy River.
Trails & Tracks to Explore
Mountain Biking
Thredbo provides lift access to a number of purpose built Mountain Bike tracks which can be accessed via the lifts or directly in the case of tracks such as the Thredbo River track. Lake Jindabyne itself (a 10 minute drive away) has a bike track which circumnavigates the lake. There are also some rough tracks on the lodge property which guests are welcome to explore.
Thredbo offers private lessons and guided mountain bike sessions for those new to the sport or looking to improve their skills.
